eduroam - Global Wi-Fi Roaming Service
eduroam enables users to access Wi-Fi at participating institutions worldwide for free using their home institution’s Wi-Fi credentials. Most research and educational institutions in the US and Europe, as well as many universities in Korea, are connected to eduroam.
How to Use eduroam
If your institution is connected to eduroam, you can typically configure your device as follows:
- SSID : eduroam
- Connection Method : WPA2 Enterprise
- Username : Your Wi-Fi ID in the format of an email address
- For example, if you are from Hankuk University (hankuk.ac.kr) and your Wi-Fi ID is gdhong, your eduroam ID will be gdhong@hankuk.ac.kr.
- Password : The same password you use for your institution's Wi-Fi

Global eduroam
The internet originated from a research and education network, and eduroam is a nonprofit initiative to enhance research and education by sharing Wi-Fi globally. Global eduroam operates in collaboration with networks such as GEANT (Europe), Internet2 (USA), and AARNet (Australia)

Since 2012, KREONET has represented South Korea in operating the eduroamKR service as part of the global eduroam initiative.
University-Level eduroam Operations Center
The Korea Education & Research Information Service (KREN) supports universities by providing information services over wired and wireless networks, contributing to the shared use of university Wi-Fi through eduroam.
eduroamKR Participating Institutions
eduroamKR is powered by the voluntary contributions of participating institutions to promote research and education. These institutions provide Wi-Fi networks and access to academic resources, enabling seamless research and education opportunities for visitors, including exchange students and visiting researchers.

How do I join eduroam?
eduroam is not available for individual sign-up. Instead, your institution’s IT administrator must apply for eduroamKR membership with the required documentation. If you are an IT administrator, please contact the eduroamKR representative for more details.

How can I check if my institution is eligible for eduroam?
The institution must be able to configure a RADIUS realm on its Wi-Fi controller. eduroam compares the realm from the Wi-Fi ID and queries the corresponding institution for authentication if the realm does not match the host institution
