Korea Access Federation (KAFE)
KREONET provides a trust-based identity networking service to enable interoperable access to science, technology, and data platforms across domestic and international institutions in academia, research, and industry.
- By utilizing internationally standardized and verified authentication protocols, KREONET offers a secure and user-friendly login environment.
- Through collaboration with global organizations, KREONET establishes policy frameworks that strengthen data protection, including the safeguarding of personal information.
- By ensuring interoperability among science and technology platforms both domestically and internationally, KREONET promotes global research collaboration.
- Members of KAFE-affiliated institutions can log in to science and data platforms integrated with KAFE without the need to create a separate user account.

Eligibility for Participation
- Domestic and international institutions in academia, industry, and research that wish to provide application services in research, education, welfare, or administration to Korean research and educational organizations may participate in KAFE as service providers.
- Korean research and educational institutions that intend to use services provided by KAFE participants may join as Identity Providers
- Institutions participating as Identity Providers are required to establish a KAFE authentication server within their organization, while service providers must modify their web applications to support KAFE integration.
- KAFE authentication server can be deployed with technical support from the KREONET.
Available Application Services
Members of Korean academic and research institutions participating in KAFE as Identity Providers can securely access services offered by Service Providers using their institutional ID and password.

- For commercial services, each institution is responsible for securing the necessary usage licenses.

Current Deployment Status
As of 2024, a total of 33 domestic academic and research institutions—including national and public research institutes as well as five science and technology-specialized universities—are participating in KAFE as identity providers, while 78 science and data platforms are participating as service providers.
