National Data Exchange Node (NDeX)
Project Objective
The KISTI National Data Exchange Node (NDeX) project aims to build infrastructure and operational systems for ultra-high-performance national large-scale data exchange nodes, including the following key objectives:
- Design and construction of the National Data Exchange Node.
- Establishment and stable operation of the NDeX system.
- Development and application of core technologies for the NDeX.
Implementation Structure
The implementation structure for the NDeX project supports data utilization research across industries, academia, and research institutes by:
- Building infrastructure for national data exchange.
- Conducting research on relevant technologies.
- Running a 24/7 operation center for continuous service and fault response.
- Facilitating integration among various connected networks, ensuring seamless data exchange.
Step-by-Step Goals and Plans
- Phase 1 (2023-2024):
- Secure core technologies for ultra-high-performance national data exchange nodes.
- Pilot the construction of two ultra-high-performance exchange nodes within the metropolitan regions, reaching petascale capacity.
- Establish direct integration and cooperation between telecom companies, data centers, and data providers and consumers.
- Build and operate the NDeX operation center.
- Phase 2 (2025-2026):
- Apply core technologies and deliver production-level ultra-high-performance data exchange services.
- Fully deploy three ultra-high-performance exchange nodes across domestic metropolitan regions, reaching hundreds of terascale capacity.
- Expand direct integration with telecom companies, data centers, and data networks.
- Stabilize and enhance the NDeX operation center.
Branding Identity (BI)
The ‘X’ in NDeX symbolizes the connectivity and interoperability between datasets. The design is inspired by the continuous growth and division of living cells, representing the dynamic movement of data as it is aggregated, shared, and exchanged. This visual metaphor reflects the role of NDeX in facilitating smooth and seamless data flow across multiple networks at the national level.
By enabling advanced data exchange infrastructure, the NDeX project will play a critical role in supporting national research, technological advancements, and collaborations across diverse sectors.
